Body Works and Therapies

Deep Tissue

Deep tissue massage focuses on strokes to target deeper layers of muscles and connective tissues. It aims to release chronic muscle tension, alleviate pain, and improve mobility by breaking up adhesions or knots in the muscles.  This type of massage can be therapeutic and beneficial for addressing specific muscular issues and promoting overall muscle recovery.

Cupping Massage

Cupping Therapy is an ancient therapeutic technique involving the application of cups to the skin to create a controlled suction effect. The cups can be made of glass, plastic, or silicone. During the massage the cups are placed on specific areas of the body to create a partial vacuum, which helps to promote local blood flow, improve circulation, and relax muscles and soft tissues. This treatment is used for various purposes, including relief from muscle and joint pain, enhancement of flexibility and mobility, and relaxation of tense tissues. Additionally, cupping massage can promote lymphatic drainage, reduce tension and stress, and foster an overall sense of well-being.

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic Drainage is a gentle massage technique designed to stimulate the lymphatic system, which is responsible for removing toxins, waste, and excess fluids from the body. This specialised massage uses light, rhythmic strokes to encourage the natural flow of lymph fluid, helping to reduce swelling, improve immune function and promote detoxification. Lymphatic drainage massage is commonly used to address conditions like edema, post surgery recovery, and overall wellness by supporting the body’s natural cleansing processes.

Zen Shiatsu

Zen Shiatsu is a form of energy-based bodywork that goes beyond a typical massage. It involves hands-on techniques that provide tangible physical relief from tension, fatigue, pain and stiffness – both localized and general. This approach improves circulation and enhances organ function and muscle tone. Through focused and penetrating touch, the therapist identifies and stimulates reactive points while treating the entire length of the energetic meridian. This method allows Zen shiatsu to directly influence the receiver’s energetic body, harmonizing the flow of Qi ( or KI ) and promoting holistic systemic change. Zen Shiatsu is non-aggressive and non-invasive. It is typically performed on a futon placed on the floor. The receiver remains clothed and no oils are used.
